Barings Bank was founded by Francis Baring in 1762. The bank originally started off trading wool and eventually branched off in to providing financial services to help facilitate international trade. In 1802 Barings Bank helped the US and France facilitate the Louisiana Purchase, which accounts for the biggest ever land purchase in history.
